重要提醒

雖然貓的健康需要少量鈉，但過多的鹽分是有毒的。一次攝取大量鹽分可能導致稱為「鹽中毒」或「高血鈉症」(hypernatremia) 的危險狀況。血液中鈉含量過高時，就會發生這種情況。 血液中過多的鈉，會為了自我平衡而將水分從身體細胞中抽離。這個過程會導致細胞萎縮，造成嚴重脫水，尤其會損害大腦和神經系統。如果貓吃了太多鹽，又沒有足夠的清水來稀釋和排出，風險就是最高的。 鹽中毒的常見來源是人類食物，例如洋芋片、醃製肉品或自製的培樂多黏土。症狀包括極度口渴、嘔吐、腹瀉、虛弱、走路不穩和癲癇。鹽中毒是醫療緊急狀況，請立即聯絡獸醫或急診動物醫院。
