   心血管功能異常 2–12 小時 · Theobromine and caffeine abnormally enhance the strength and contractility of cardiac muscles. This results in very rapid, irregular heart rhythms, potential internal bleeding, and ultimately cardiac arrest or a heart attack in the terminal phase.

   呼吸窘迫 中後期（約 6–12 小時內惡化） · As cardiovascular and systemic distress worsens, cats will pant and breathe rapidly2. They may develop a bluish tinge to their skin and mucous membranes (cyanosis) due to poor oxygenation, culminating in respiratory failure.

   體溫過高 中後期（6–12 小時） · The extreme overstimulation of the nervous system and relentless muscle tremors generate excessive heat, causing the cat's core body temperature to spike to dangerous levels.

   口渴與排尿增加（多飲與多尿） 2–12 小時 · Theobromine acts as a diuretic, increasing the loss of bodily fluids and causing the cat to pass large amounts of urine, which can rapidly lead to systemic dehydration.

重要提醒

可可（cocoa）是製作巧克力的主要原料，由可可豆加工而成。對貓來說，可可並不安全，因為它含有大量可可鹼（theobromine）和咖啡因。尤其是乾可可粉，這些成分的濃度非常高，因此比一般巧克力更容易造成中毒。 主要的危險來自可可中的甲基黃嘌呤類物質，也就是可可鹼和咖啡因。貓分解這些物質的速度比人類慢得多，因此即使吃下的量不大，也可能讓體內濃度持續升高。這些成分會過度刺激神經系統和心血管系統，讓貓的身體長時間處於興奮狀態，進而影響心跳、血壓以及正常的神經功能。 貓誤食可可後，可能出現躁動不安、活動力異常增加、流口水、嘔吐、腹瀉、心跳加快、呼吸急促、顫抖等症狀。嚴重時可能發生癲癇發作、心律不整，甚至危及生命。由於乾可可粉的毒性遠高於一般巧克力，因此少量誤食也不能掉以輕心。建議避免讓貓接觸任何含可可的產品，包括可可粉、烘焙用可可原料和高可可含量巧克力，並將這些食品存放在貓無法取得的地方。如果懷疑貓咪誤食，應儘快聯絡獸醫尋求專業協助。

• 症狀：嘔吐、腹瀉、過度口渴與排尿；接著快速進展為躁動、心跳加快、顫抖、體溫過高、心律不整與癲癇。
• 最毒的常見來源：可可粉比黑巧克力、烘焙巧克力或其他巧克力產品更危險；任何暴露都應視為嚴重急症。
• 隱藏來源：熱可可粉、巧克力烘焙粉和園藝用可可殼覆蓋物都含有高濃度甲基黃嘌呤。
• 處理方式：獸醫急症。即使只吃到少量可可粉，也需要立即尋求獸醫協助。
