Pudding
Pudding
Pudding is not acutely toxic to cats in its plain forms, but many pudding varieties contain ingredients that are dangerous: chocolate pudding contains theobromine, sugar-free puddings may contain xylitol, and dairy-based puddings cause lactose-related GI upset in most adult cats. The plain starchy base is safe but provides no nutritional value.
Important Notes
Chocolate pudding: TOXIC — contains theobromine; even small amounts can cause vomiting, tremors, and cardiac effects
Sugar-free pudding: check for xylitol — highly toxic to cats, causing dangerous hypoglycaemia
Dairy-based pudding: causes lactose-related vomiting and diarrhea in most adult cats
Plain starch-based pudding without toxic additives: not toxic, but very high in sugar and provides no nutritional value
Check the ingredient list before assuming a pudding is safe; chocolate and xylitol exposures require immediate vet contact
